April 2nd
A rainy day and evening.
Dense cloud cover bounced a lot of interferance to the large antennas when they were used up on the ridge high points. We did lots of site scouting and more transmitter tests.

A Red Spotted newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) that seemed very happy to have the warm rain.
Another red spotted newt link: http://www.nwf.org/rrick/1998/jul98/newt.html This one focuses on life cycle.
Caught three bats after the rain had stopped (1 at 2 am check, 2 at 6am check), other than the rain it was a nice night, temps stayed in the 50's. It was interesting that bats emerged after 4am, we went into this project assuming that there would be very little activity after midnight or one am. The bats seem much more influenced by temperature and weather than time of night.
